My Story
Ms Carmen
Owner, Stylist
I’m a fifth-generation afro-American woman carrying on the legacy of the family business. My mother, Cleaster Terry, established Pretty Girl in 1969. I received my cosmetology license in 1977 and worked alongside my mother for several years before moving to Mississippi in 1991. I returned to San Francisco in 2004 to help my mother who was fighting cancer, and to assist managing and running the business. It has not been easy after my mother passed, but I’ve managed to renovate the shop, bring it up to COVID-19 safety requirements and give it a more modern look. When you visit the salon now, you will say ‘wow!’
